Seasons in Baden-Baden

Baden-Baden is able to integrate diversity and contrasts effortlessly. The region often offers two seasons at the same time: in spring it is not uncommon to find abundant snow at the heights of Baden-Baden, while in the valley the crocuses and other harbingers of spring are already in bloom. When is the best time to visit Baden-Baden? This is one of the few questions that our experienced team cannot answer, because every season has its own charm.

Enchanting spring

Frühling in Baden-Baden

Wherever the eye looks…spring in Baden-Baden is simply beautiful. The Lichtentaler Allee turns into a bright sea of flowers already at the end of February. The carpets of crocuses, daffodils and tulips are impressive (#selfie lovers tip). In spring, the hiking trails in and around Baden-Baden are particularly charming. On the Mehliskopf, you can sometimes still take a Scheewanderung in March. The first warm rays of sunshine invite you to linger in countless cafés in the city. Two outdoor pools in the Caracalla Therme (32°C and 35°C) provide soothing relaxation even in cooler temperatures.  On rainy days, we recommend a visit to the museums, the Friedrichsbad Therme or taking part in the guided tours at the Festpielhaus and the Casino.

Summer bliss

In summer you can wonderfully philosophize about the art in the air-conditioned museums with a glass of wine on the hotel’s own terrace, attend a concert in the Kurhaus and relax after the hike or a shopping experience in the thermal baths or outdoor pools. Germany’s most beautiful hiking trail, the Panoramawanderweg, runs directly from the front door of the Hotel Rathausglöckel. From May until the colorful autumn, the walk through the rose novelty garden on the Beutig is highly recommended. Golf and tennis lovers can reserve coaching lessons in Baden-Baden. In addition, ballooning and tandem flights are great options when the weather is nice. Contact the front desk at any time for more suggestions and ideas.

Golden autumn

Lichtentaler Allee Herbst

The autumnal rush of colors in Baden-Baden is dreamlike and definitely worth a trip. In Lichtentaler Allee, more than 64 dahlia varieties bloom every year from late August until October. Visit the wineries in the beautifully situated Baden-Baden Rebland and enjoy a fantastic view of nature’s blaze of color from the ruins of the Altes Schloss or from the Merkurberg. Spend sociable evenings with a glass of wine in our cozy wine bar.

Christmas time: Christkindelsmarkt

Weihnachten

Baden-Baden won in 2020 in the competition “Best Christmas City” the second place in the category of medium-sized cities. Let yourself be inspired by the magical ambience of the festively decorated Hotel Ratahausglöckel and the city at usually mild temperatures. Start your day with the cozy breakfast by the fireplace of our former restaurant.

From November 25 to January 6, the traditional Christkindelsmarkt takes place directly in front of the Kurhaus. Let yourself be enchanted by the glow of lights and the Christmas atmosphere. The living nativity scene and the fairy tale alley provide unforgettable moments for the whole family.

Mild Winter

There is also a lot to do in Baden-Baden in winter. A visit to the thermal baths, festival house events, a winter hike or skiing, cross-country skiing and tobogganing on the Mehliskopf: there are nice alternatives and additions to the Christmas market program: talk to us and take advantage of the optimal location of the Hotel Rathausglöckel (right in the city center and quiet at the same time) for your city trip.
